Great win needs a great blog

What a wonder strike from old butterboots. i'd forgotten he could that. Nathan's back rubbing antics meant he missed out on the performance of the season. Solid defence even with the kaiser missing!?
it's only a 1-0, but hey if it wasn't the best damned game i've seen in ages, (and i've seen liverpool fc play this season)
keep going boys the title will be ours.

Season starts with a bang

Nice to see us back in winning ways so early in the season. A great team performance should send us to the top o' the league where we plan to stay. Cummon the marmalades!

Good Win! Yeehaa!

Great result for us last night! I scored again! Yippee! 3 goals in 5 games! I'm on fire!!! (We will all forget about my softest back pass in history and concentrate only on my goal tally!)
One game left for a guaranteed 3rd place and a win against every team in the league (I think?)!
Yeehaaaaa! Come on Marmalades!!!!

Good Start Old Boy!...

A fine start to the season I think you'll agree! If we ignore the first match that we had to cancel (and therefore concede a 3-0), we are unbeaten in three games. Three clean sheets for the Panther and eight lovely goals (including one for myself!).
How long will it continue?
Also a welcome back to 'angry' Davies and 'steam train' Webb!

Reporter Booth - Game Review 20/04 : vs El Ninos

Smyth Academicals 0 vs El Ninos 1
K.O. 6:30

A fine looking group of athletic players took to the field last night in an effort to uphold the good name of the Robert smyth school. All omens pointed to a disappointment from the start, as the white rabbit that is Martin Cripwell (aka Butterboots) was telephoned at home at 6:45 to get his posterior to the ground. But the super striker duly arrived and the game commenced. After losing the toss (tails for wales) the welsh captain retired to defend the downwind end.
The game started late, but brightly, with both teams held in a midfield tussle for supremacy. The first of our chances fell to the left winger who’s shot flew across the face of goal but not troubling the keeper.
Then the el nino’s replied with a counter-attack ending in the ball drilled towards the bottom right corner, but parried wide for a corner.

The only goal of the game came early in the second half, a good move from the el ninos split the defence and the ball was drilled in to the goal from 6 yards, past the flailing arms of the fat pantherish keeper. The marmalade heads went down in dejection and could not find a reply, Although our best chance came from a long throw out from the keeper, landing on the footy of the balding winger but only to be muffed up completely. The game ended hand-shakes all round, and a quick round at the sugar loaf.

Johnny Cash Night Take 2?

End of the season...another curry anyone?
Thinking of some time around the end of August?
Perhaps a Thursday? Any preferences?

We want the Walrus. Koo koo ka-joob!

Mid-table mediocrity

Not even halfway throught the domestic season and already the bitter scent of defeat hangs, all too heavily, in the air. After the wonderful night out in a very camp site, i feel a premature curry night/ bonding session is in order. Anyone else fancy a night out soon and not just leave it until the end of the season?
Luv 'n' hugs
The fat one.

Pub Convo - More Bollocks Less Tactics

While we were all bitterly disappointed with losing last night, I do feel that we are losing the reason why we play.

I play football and with myself to have fun! While there will inevitably be ups and downs within the game the last thing we should be doing is taking this away with us at the pub

'Talking Shop' at the pub should be banned and in our world of professional footballers this means tactics. Tactics should be discussed before and during the game at the stadium NOT IN THE PUB when the match is over and there is fuck all we can do about it anyway

My pint of Carling Extra Cold (The favourite tipple for all Academicals - Apart from the poofy ones which have lime in it!!!) which is carefully served by our Team Associates - The Bell ("never knowingly sold dodgy booze") should not be spoilt by discussions of 3-1-1 or 2-2-1 etc.

All post match alcoholic beverages should be accompanied with a heavy dose of BOLLOCKS. I therefore became more refreshed near the end of the night went the slightly gayer ones of the team suggested the lap dancing bars are better than dirty pubs.

Hopefully this debate will continue next week

Long live Corpsey!!

How many is too many?

How many subs are too many?
Everybody wants to play as much of a game as possible. Nobody wants to be subbed or only get a fraction of a game.
So...what do we do about it?

Welcome to the Smyth Academicals Blog

Hooray! We now have a blog page.
You can post all of your comments, suggestions, observations, opinions and general rants.
Blog away!
